D.A.M.P.S. Dear Mr. Brown, On Jan., 6, 1999 I had the pleasure of reviewing the eighth prototype of the evolving D.A.M.P.S. shoe technology. Along with Jeff Brown, we evaluated the new shoe, which brought Jeff's vision to a tangible fruition. The eighth prototype addressed numerous technological difficulties with the original design. The resulting changes are unique with an innovative approach to the design changes needed. The outsole composite formulation is new combining strength with light weight an less bulk. The Bellows System accommodating the heel design is ingenious being both functional and durable. With a visual evaluation of the D.A.M.P.S. System and latest prototype in hand it is easier to appreciate Mr. Brown's design application to foot gear as it now nears production. As discussed with Jeff, the design is being reviewed by the U.S. Army which studies show have 37% of recruits with ambulation problems. Hopefully, the D.A.M.P.S. System can be utilized and prototypical boot for the Army made soon, as the heel design should be acceptable in it's present form. After ten years of evaluating the numerous prototypes I was gratified to see this near production shoe, and predict a good prognosis for the company and the design. The biomechanical application is sound and evidently the last production shoe will be even further refined.
